A ceremonial concert was held at the Kielce Cultural Center on the 70th anniversary of the Kielce Pogrom performed by SINFONIA VARSOVIA conducted by Maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk. The composition of Maksymiuk’s “Lament of the Heart – for Kielce in Memoriam”, “Chamber Symphony” by Dmitry Shostakowicz and Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” were performed.
The concert was preceded by the ceremony of awarding His Excellency Bishop Mieczysław Cislo Vir Bonus prize by the Jan Karski Society in recognition for the uniqueness of the character and work of life. The Bishop is the chairman of the Committee for Dialogue with Judaism of the Polish Episcopal Conference. This celebration ended the 70th anniversary of the Kielce pogrom.
