A promotion of the book entitled ‘Kieleckie wspomnienia’ [Kielce memories] by Rafael Blumenfeld,
an instructor of the Kielce kibbutz of ‘Ichud’, who in 1946, together with his mentees, fell victim to
the pogrom, was organized at our Institute. The book was published by the Jan Karski Institute thanks
to the financial support of the Jewish Historical Institute. The meeting was also attended by Marek
Maciągowski, PhD, a historian, head of the Centre for Civic and Patriotic Thought and an old friend of
Rafael Blumenfeld. In his speech he stressed the fact that Blumenfeld was a very sensitive man,
greatly involved in working with young people. Numerous questions about Rafael Blumenfeld and
about Jewish community of Kielce were asked during the meeting.
