Literary evening ’77 years earlier in Warsaw’ performed by Jerzy Trela.

On May 16, the Jewish quarter in Warsaw ceased to exist. A symbolic act of the Germans’ triumph over the Ghetto Uprising that had been ongoing since April 19 was the blowing up of the Great Synagogue, which took place at exactly 20:15.

In order to commemorate this sad anniversary and the victims of the Holocaust and the Ghetto Uprisings, on May 16, exactly at 20:15, we broadcast a performance on our Facebook site and YouTube channel prepared specially for the Jan Karski Society by the outstanding actor Jerzy Trela. He read fragments of testimonies and poetic texts about the Jewish uprising of 1943, collected and published by Barbara Toruńczyk in “Zeszyty Literackie”.
