One of the additional open meetings within the series of ABCs of Judaism was conducted by Anna Dodziuk from the Warsaw Jewish Community. She delivered a lecture entitled ‘Matan Torah. What did Jews receive at Mount Sinai? As the lecturer emphasised, the word ‘matan’ repeated in Jewish prayers can be translated as ‘giving’ but also as ‘gift’ or ‘present’. During the lecture, Anna Dodziuk focused on Talmudic and Chassidic commentaries to the extract from the Book of Exodus about the giving of the Torah.
