Jewish New Year in the synagogue in Kielce

The meeting of the inhabitants of Kielce held on September 19 in the former Kielce synagogue lasted over three hours. The event celebrating the new Jewish year 5781 was organized by the Jan Karski Society. During the meeting, the guests listened to the history of the Kielce synagogue and a lecture on the meaning and symbolism of Rosh Hashanah, as part of the ABCs of Judaism series. Jacek Dziubl’s song by Avinu Malkeinu (Our Father, Our King) sounded exceptionally well. For the first time, we presented a fragment of the Torah, given to us by an inhabitant of Kielce. The participants of the meeting could also taste challah, apples, and honey. At the end, there was a screening of a two-hour French documentary entitled “The Man”, a moving film about humanity. Yann Arthus-Bertrand interviewed 2.000 women and men from 60 countries, asking them 40 questions, and recorded 2.020 interviews in 63 languages.
